Hi Tim, Nice talking with you today. As I said, I think you'd be best served with a 25 user license of Office 2.0. I'm including a download key for you to try, along with long instructions on how to enable the shared global mode. Cheers, Jeremy CrossOver Download Request ---------------------------------------- Follow the instructions below to download CrossOver Office. Please note the download link provided here will expire 72 hours from when we sent this email. 1.) Go to this URL: http://crossover.codeweavers.com/download/office/ 2.) Enter the following into the form: Product: CrossOver Office Access Key: tskirvin@ks.uiuc.edu Serial Number: [snip] 3.) Start the download, and save the file to your hard disk, e.g. ~/install-crossover-office-2.0.0.sh 4.) Execute the single shell script in a terminal, e.g.: sh ~/install-crossover-office-2.0.0.sh 5.) Enjoy! CrossOver Office provides two facilities - the ability to have a 'shared global' installation as well as the ability to generate RPMs of configurations to customers that have purchased a multiple user license. The shared global installation allows the system administrator to install a single copy of Windows applications to create a virtual image. This virtual image is then shared by every user, with each user having a small writeable area of their own. The buildrpm facility lets you take a shared global installation and bundle it into an rpm for simple replication onto other machines. These features are actually present within CrossOver Office, but are disabled by default. This is in part because these features can cause problems if an exact process is not followed. It is also in part because we choose to primarily support these features for folks that have purchased multi user licenses. This email gives you short instructions on how to enable these features, and how to avoid some of the more common problems of this mode. First, this process works best when done on a clean system with no CrossOver (or all CrossOver removed). You start the process by installing CrossOver Office as the root user. When this process is done, you should exit without running the Office configuration program. Next, take the attached cxmultiuser script file, and copy it to /opt/cxoffice/bin/. Next, still as root, you should run the following in a terminal window: /opt/cxoffice/bin/cxmultiuser This will convert your CrossOver Office installation into a shared global system. Finally, to install applications globally, log in as root and run the CrossOver Configuration utility. *IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ONLY INSTALL AS ROOT BUT NEVER RUN THE APPLICATIONS AS THE ROOT USER*. Everything you do as the root user affects all users, and certain files can be made that require write access, which not all users will have. Once you have the applications installed, then as a regular user you should log in and run the applications. A virtual environment should be created in the users ~/.cxoffice directory, and they should be up and running quickly. The same should be true for all users on the system. Finally, to replicate this configuration, change to a working directory and invoke the following in a terminal: /opt/cxoffice/bin/buildrpm.sh where is a descriptive name of your choosing. After a fairly lengthy set of processing, you should have an rpm in the i386/ subdirectory. If you have any questions or concerns about this support, please send email to office-support@codeweavers.com.
