Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum - 24 Feb 2006
We hit the Hirshhorn Museum at the end of our day of walking around; we were tired, but still wanted to see a few more museums. Beth pushed for it, and it was pretty neat modern art stuff. Not that I necessarily understood it all or anything... I was a bit annoyed to have to turn off my camera for most of the middle of it, though.

Images
Sculpture Garden
There was a sculpture garden outside the building.
Sculpture Garden, II
I got a few shots of the sculptures, but as always, I have no idea how to describe them.
Sculpture Garden, III
This one looks like guys hitting each other from inside rocks.
Fountain, Perhaps?
I don't really know what this was, and that's not just because I forgot.
Some Sculptures
I at least like things made up of old welded parts.
More Sculptures
This one involved electricity. Iwish I could read it. Contiment?
Eye Hemisphere
Again, I don't know what this is.
Welded Stuff
I should have tried to make something like this when I was learning to weld.
Optical Illusion
I wonder if it was more meaningful than just the fact that it was an illusion?
Caitte, To Scale
It was a large painting.
Headless
I think the lack of head was intended, too.
Wood Carving
Mathematical? Maybe. I liked this, at least.
Fish of Stone
Or are they shells? Hard to tell.
Silhouette Man
This was an interesting photograph, with the shadows...
Checking out the Mobile
Must not say anything about how short Caitte is...
Four Colors Four Words
This reminded me of Jenny Holzer's stuff.
Exhibiting Paintings
I think this was Beth's favorite artifact of the museum.
Book of Nails
At least it looks like something identifiable! (Yes, I am bad at interpreting art.)
Hiroshi Sugimoto Exhibit
This is where I was told to turn off my camera.
Hiroshi Sugimoto Exhibit, II
It was fairly neat modern art - this particular room was full of mathematical-equation sculptures - but they apparently want to keep it for exhibtions only...
Ink Blots?
I'm sure there was something more to this than I can see.
Floating Table
I think this was *my* favorite artifact.
Directions -- Jim Hodges
This says "don't be afraid" in a whole lot of langauges.
Directions, II
It was a pretty neat exhibit.
Directions, III
Maybe I just have a penchant for Really Big Things.
Tim and Caitte
Aww..
Mesh Sculpture
This was just outside the building, and we got a couple of shots of it before we took off.
Beth through a Mesh
I like that she's more visible in the thumbnail than in the close-up shots.
