I am arranging the carpools to Purdue which is about 2 hours away. When
you RSVP, please tell me whether or not you can drive, how many passengers
you can carry and what time you would like to leave and return. You may
want to go the Welcoming Dance from 7:30 - 10:30 PM on Friday, Oct. 16.
Cost = $5. And you may want to stay for a Waltz and Cha Cha Workshop
taught by former US Champion Kathryn Schaffer on Sunday Oct. 18. Cost =
$15 for both workshops. The Dance Competition will run from 8AM till
8PM, but you may want to visit the Purdue Competition Website for the exact
schedule before deciding when you want to go and return. (See the Purdue
link off the DI Homepage at http://www.uiuc.edu/ro/dancing/ )

Notes:
- There will be a team competition which we can organize after we find out
who is going.

- When you pay your deposit, you should fill out your individual registration
form. Forms on the Purdue Webpage. Copies should also be available in class
and at practice.

- If you don't have a partner yet, you can still go. There should be
several dancers without partners at the Comp.

- The Open Category of Latin is a 5 dance event that includes Paso Doble.
So Advanced dancers wanting to compete in Open should start practicing Paso!

Hope to hear from you soon! If you haven't been to a dance competition yet,
this is a good comp to start out with! It's tons of fun and very
addictive! And you don't need a competitive spirit to compete! The
atmosphere is very social and cooperative. You get to meet lots of other
students. This comp is including some fun events such as woman leading,
man following and a jack and jill category (potluck partner). It is also
good practice for the DI Competition which will be on Nov. 7.
