Dear Dancers and Future Dancers,
Our 22nd annual intercollegiate ballroom dance competition will be
held 9am-11pm Saturday, October 9 in the Illini Union Illini Rooms.
Please come cheer on our dancers! UIUC student spectators admitted
free (funded by SORF), general public $5 for admission good all day.
Don't miss the professional demos during the evening competition!
On Sunday, October 10 we have six workshops by our professional judges,
also free for UIUC students (funded by SORF) in the Illini Rooms:
10am-11am Introduction to Lindy Hop OR Intermediate Cha Cha
11:15-12:15 Intermediate Salsa OR Introduction to Rumba
12:30-1:30 Intermediate West Coast Swing OR Introduction to Jive

Our regular 5-week dance courses resume starting Sunday, October 17
with Beginner Foxtrot & Tango, Beginner Rumba & Jive, and Level 2 Salsa
& Nightclub 2-step. You don't need a partner and beginner courses are
FREE the first week, so come to the University YMCA and give it a try!

Beginner Foxtrot & Tango
Sundays, 5:00-6:15pm, 5 weeks, Oct 17-Nov 14 at University YMCA
taught by Charles & Wei, NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Beginner Rumba & Jive
Sundays, 6:30-7:45pm, 5 weeks, Oct 17-Nov 14 at University YMCA
taught by Kyong & Elvan, NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Level 2 Salsa & Nightclub 2-step
Sundays, 8:00-9:15pm, 5 weeks, Oct 17-Nov 14 at University YMCA
taught by Ron & May, Salsa or 2-step experience recommended
Courses meet at the University YMCA's Latzer Hall (first floor),
at Wright and Chalmers in Champaign, just west of Lincoln Hall.
Repeat students are welcome in all courses.
Pricing:
There is no need to pre-register. Try classes FREE the first week.
Your $30 membership (or $35 registration if non-UIUC) entitles you to
one 5-week course. Additional courses in the same semester are $20.
Prices are per person; there is no couples discount. Please be
prepared to pay by the start of the second class (October 24).
EARLY-BIRD SPECIAL: Save $5 on membership if you pay the first week!
Want to get all your Dancing Illini classes for free? Volunteer some
of your time and enthusiasm as an officer! If you are interested
please email dancing at illinois dot edu. Elections are held in April.
Where We Dance:
The Regent Ballroom has dancing most Fridays, 8-11pm, $8. The music
covers everything we teach and more, so join your DI friends at the
