    Dancing Illini Officers’ Meeting
    310 Freer
    November 12, 2002
    Meeting started at 8:07 pm.

Officers in attendance: Mike Lockwood, Lynn Milewski, Jen Jakubowski, Jesse
Kuiper, Emily Kass, Aaron Hays, Amy Creekmore, Jeremy Williams, Lu Fang, Jonne
Brown, Rich Guerra, Peter Chen, Jen Schultz, Tanja Hodges, Jeff Tran

*Amy Creekmore reported on the November 9th salsa dance:

-there were approximately 75 people in attendance

-we have a dance scheduled for December 14th in 314 in the Illini Union.
Approximate time is from 8:30 until 12:30. This will be a general dance
focusing on the dances taught during the semester. We will possibly have a
mixer or two at the beginning and middle of the dance.

-Amy asked for funds to be allocated for a microphone and bag to carry all of
the equipment for the dances. Mike will give Amy the headphones that go with
the CD players. Funds were okayed by the officers with no one opposed.

*A general meeting was approved for November 19th, 2002 at 8 pm in 310 Freer.
Jen S. will send an announcement to official to announce the meeting.

*Rich has records through last year, and will prepare a tentative budget by
next Tuesday’s meeting. He will email this budget to the officers for
    approval first.

-we are aiming for $10K in funds at the end of each semester.

*We need to get notices for dances, workshops, etc sent out as early as
possible. If the event costs more than the officer’s semesterly allocation,
this should probably be approved by the entire group.

*Jeremy mentioned having an instructor workshop during December, after classes
finish and before the new ones begin. The focus will be to discuss what
teaching styles work and what doesn’t. A vote was taken; the workshop was
approved and Jeremy will work on setting it up.

*Emily stated the planned classes for the spring semester:
First six weeks: Beginner Salsa/NC2S, Beginner Waltz/Rumba, Advanced
    Hustle/WCS, Advanced Rumba/Cha-Cha
Second six weeks: Beginner Swing/Hustle, Beginner Tango/Cha-Cha, Advanced
    Salsa, Advanced Waltz/Tango

    *Tanja reported on our competitions:

-18 people are registered for the Ohio Star Ball. This will cost $900 in
    registration fees alone.
-Iowa State Comp, we received SORF funds
-Purdue comp is out of pocket for the club and will cost ~$400 in registration
    fees.
-we will leave on Sat morning and return Sat evening in 2-3 cars
-$500 total including gas money; this was approved by the officers.

-If we continue to bring this many people to comps, we may eventually have to
require attendees to pay ~$15 out of personal funds. The DI will then
    supplement this with club funds.

*A dessert party was suggested for the first Friday in December. Tentatively
to be held at Mary Sue’s. Amy will contact her and plan the event. $100 was
    approved for hors d'oeuvres

*In lieu of the summer officer’s dinner, funds will be put towards the New
Year’s Eve dance at the Regent. The club will pay part of the registration
    fees for any officers.

    Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
