Queridos Milongueros!

The next milonga of the Tango Society of Central Illinois will be on Saturday
February 12, from 8-11 PM at the Phillips Recreation Center in Urbana (corner
of Springfield & McCullough, entrance & parking around the corner on
Stoughton). Admission is $3.

Live music will be provided during the milonga by the Guerilla Parlour
Ensemble.

The milonga will be preceded (7-8 PM) by a workshop in 'milonga' given by Tom
(El Tigre) Ronquillo, the founder of the Tango Society of Central Illinois.
Milonga is a variant of tango that is livelier (danced to faster music) and
uses a different posture. However, it shares many steps with salon tango.
There are several milongas played at each milonga. The cost of the workshop
is $5, and includes admission to the dance.

Proceeds from admission will be contributed to the Urbana Park District to be
used towards the purchase of the 'Tango' sculpture in Meadowbrook Park.

Please bring a pair of clean shoes to preserve the beautiful hardwood floor
at the Phillips Center.

I've attached a flyer announcing the milonga (in MS-Word 97 format) which you
may copy and distribute to your friends, as well as paste onto your
refrigerator door to serve as a constant reminder of your committment.

This message is provided one week in advance so you can clear your calendar
and reserve the time slot for the milonga. This gives you time to cancel
previous engagements. Also, should you be planning a date (or be asked for a
date) for next weekend, you will suggest Friday if the partner is not a
tanguero/a, and Saturday if s/he is. (Note/Warning: After you become addicted
to tango, all dates will be with tangueros/as. An altenative worldview will
no longer be possible.)

See you on the dance floor!
