Hey Kids,

Here's the info for this weekend. Note the Lindy workshop this
Saturday (in 2 days). Don't miss it. Also, note the High School
Lindy/Swing workshop. It's all ages (so you don't have to be in HS).
Minimum age: 14, Maximum age: 94 (that's right, all you 95'ers, you
just go ahead and complain...). Also note the Grand Central Swing
Station (May 8). Yeah!

Swing this weekend:

Today, Thursday April 22 (every Thursday):
The Blind Pig has given up its liquor license and has turned ALL
AGES! Aside from that
incredibly drastic news, they've included an ALL AGES swing night on
Thursdays...Now if some of
you need lessons, Tessa Auza and Bradley Smith are giving beginner
lessons for $2 at 7pm-8pm. I know them, and they are very good
instructors. The new twist here is that they're charging 3 buckeroos
after 8pm.

Friday
Mighty Blue Kings, Illini Rooms A, B, C.I thas been moved next door to
the Illini Rooms A,B,C. show starts at 9 with Susan Hoffer and the
MBK go on at 10. tickets are on sale now at the Union Ticket Central
in the north west corner of the union. All ages!!!

Final update on the Lindy workshop this weekend.
The date to mail your check has come and gone. Therefore, if you
haven't mailed it, please don't and bring it by Andy Weaver's place
of residence instead. His address is: 309 E. John.

Tuesday, April 27
U of I Jazz Band II again at their concert in Krannert. The concert is
at 8:00 and our own Val the Gal will be singing 2 songs (Going to
Chicago and Hey, Look Me Over). Tickets can be purchased through
Krannert. There will be plenty of time to go to Legends afterwards.

Sunday, May 2:
Lindy Hop/Swing Workshop
Times: Beginner Lindy Hop/Swing: 2:30 to 4:30pm
Intermediate Lindy Hop/Swing: 5 to 7pm
No experience necessary for beginner class, but a good review for
people who have already taken a beginner class. Previous beginner
class recommended for intermediate class. Cost: 10 dollars for
beginner or intermediate workshop, 15 dollars for both. Location:
White Street Arts Center, located on White Street, between 3rd and
4th, dance studiois behind the red brick house .

Remember, on Saturday, May 8th will be "Grand Central
Swing Station" by the Central High School Band Boosters. This
will be at the new Multimodal Transportation Center (train station)
in Champaign and general admission will have dancing from
9PM-1AM for $7. Featured are the 16 piece Mark Sheridan-
Rabideau Big Band, which has former members of the Ray Charles
Orchestra, as well as people who have played with the Dorseys,
Stan Kenton, and Benny Goodman! Also there will be the Virtues, a
well-known jump-blues/swing band in the area, as well as the Edison
Middle School and Champaign Central Jazz bands. The proceeds all
go to the Central High School Band. Definitely something not to be
