The evolution of Swing has come full circle. A
traveling group of dancers and their favorite band
touring the Midwest metropolitan areas. Enjoy one of
the finer moments of the Swing Era. The Swing Midwest –
Spring Fever event truly recreates the Lindy Hoppers
experience of the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. This tour
features one of the hottest Swing ensembles of the 90’s
revival, Lavay Smith and her Red Hot Skillet Lickers.

If you’re hep to the jive with the Swing revival, don’t miss this
inaugural event. We’ve got Lavay Smith & her Red Hot Skillet
Lickers, The Blues Swingers, Jump Jive & Wail, The Senders,
traveling dancers are joining the scene, and a big money dance
contest, that’s right - $1,000 bucks! A two-day Lindy Hop
workshop featuring the top young stars from San Francisco Paul
Overton & Sharon Ashe*. Join the largest celebration honoring
America’s Folk dance and see who’s who and what’s hot in the
Swing scene in the Midwest.

The first leg of this tour kicks off at Liquid in Chicago Wednesday,
May 5th. The tour will jump down to St. Louis May 6th,
Minneapolis May 7th, and swings back into Chicago on Saturday
May 8th at the Aragon Ballroom. A dance contest with a $1,000
cash prize showcases the Aragon Ballroom event.

? Special arrangements are being made for those who wish to travel with
us via Chartered bus
? Cost for the trip is $175.00 per person. This includes cost for
admission to all four shows, bus fare (fully equipped with washrooms)
and hotel accommodations (four to a room) at St. Louis and Minneapolis.
? A minimum of 40 passengers is required to reserve the bus – maximum is

Important:

Remember, on Saturday, May 8th will be "Grand Central Swing
Station" by the Central High School Band Boosters. This will be at the
new
Multimodal Transportation Center (train station) in Champaign and
general
admission will have dancing from 9PM-1AM for $7. Featured are the 16
piece Mark Sheridan-Rabideau Big Band, which has former members of
the Ray Charles Orchestra, as well as people who have played with the
Dorseys, Stan Kenton, and Benny Goodman! Also there will be the
Virtues, a well-known jump-blues/swing band in the area, as well as the
Edison Middle School and Champaign Central Jazz bands. The proceeds
all go to the Central High School Band. Definitely something not to be
