Here are the events for this week. Note the changes regarding the
Regent Swing Nite. And also, the Office (in Urbana) is now having swing
nites every sunday! Lessons at 9, dancing, 10 to 1.
Tuesday, Feb. 16:
Legends Swing Night (every Tuesday)
Swing Lessons: 9pm to 10pm by Christi Hillebrand and Valentin
Dancing: 10pm to 1am
19 or over.
Wednesday, Feb. 10: Two events:
1. 3 Spot Performance and Lunchtime Swing Dance
Where: Courtyard Cafe
Flamenco and Swing Performances at 12 noon
Open swing dancing from 12:30pm to 1pm.
2. Dancing Illini Weekly Practice, 9:30pm to 10:50pm (every Wednesday)
Cost: Free. All types of dancing, including East Coast Swing, West
Coast Swing,
Lindy Hop, Tango, Nightclub 2-step, Hustle, Fox-trot, Salsa, Rumba,
etc..
Where: Regent Ballroom, Savoy

Thursday, Feb. 11: Two events:
1. Atomic Fireballs, at the Canopy ($5 advance tickets/$7 at the
door). Must be 18 or over.
2. Swing nite at IMPE. Lessons at 9 by Mark Weiss,
Dancing 10 to midnite. Cost: $2, free gatorade. No smoking, all ages.
Friday, Feb. 12:
Blast From the Past Premiere, and Swing Demonstration..
Beverly Cinemas (next to Meijer), Champaign
First showing: 7:15pm (demonstration at 6:45)
Second showing: 9:45pm (demonstration at 9:15)
Saturday, Feb. 13: Four events:
1. Swing into a Night of Chocolate
Cost: $10 Location: Illini Union Rooms ABC.
Chocolate desserts at 8, Lessons at 9, Dancing at 10.
2. Jazz Vocalist Susan Hofer (and Friends), 5pm
(I was told they play music you can Lindy to.)
Singing the songs of Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Gershwin and
other jazz standards from the big band era.
Where: City of New Orleans, Downtown Champaign
3. Brian Setzer Orchestra and Bob Dylan
Where: The Red Bird Arena, Normal, Illinois

4. Blast From the Past Swing Demonstration (same as Friday above)

Location: Regent Ballroom, Savoy
The Regent has suspended hardwood floors ("shock absorbers" so you can
dance all night!). No smoking. All ages. Nice dress code. No food or
drinks from outside, $3 cover, they charge till 1:00am.
