Friday, Feb. 5: Two events:
1. Jitters and Rush Coffehouse Swing Nite
Location: Downtown Champaign, corner of Niel and Main, same building as
the Blind Pig. Cost: small donation (0 to 5 dollars). No smoking, all
ages. Free lessons at 7:30pm. Dancing from 8:30pm to at least 1am
(maybe 2am!).
2. Marianne all-ages swing night. 9pm to 1am. $1.50 at the door.
Location:
Charleston Square. When you arrive into Charleston, just drive north on
7th street until you reach the square. It's on the north side. Contact

more info or directions. All ages.
Sunday, Feb. 7, 5:15pm to 6:45pm:
Dancing Illini classes: Beginner West Coast Swing, Hustle, and
Nightclub 2-step (one class). The DI is teaching several 8-week classes
this semester, but I wanted to bring one in particular to the Swing
Society's attention, one that I might be attending! It starts this
Sunday, 5:15 - 6:45pm, on the 3rd floor of Freer Hall. All 3 dances are
considered "swing dances" and "club dances", which means they have a lot
in common with East Coast Swing and Lindy. Hustle and Nightclub 2-step
are both like ECS, and West Coast Swing and the Lindy Hop are similar.
If you have an ECS/Lindy background you can learn with little
difficulty. They've all evolved from swing, so you can take moves from
one dance and use it in the others. The class runs 7 weeks. The first
week is free and then you're expected to pay $25 for students/faculty

Tuesday, Feb. 9
Legends Swing Night,
lessons at 9, dancing 10 to 1
19 and over.
Thursday, Feb. 11: Two events:
1. Atomic Fireballs, at the Canopy ($5 advance tickets/$7 at the
door). Must be 18 or over.
2. Swing nite at IMPE. Lessons at 9, dancing 10 to midnite. Cost: $2,
free gatorade. No smoking, all ages.
Saturday, Feb. 13
Brian Setzer Orchestra and Bob Dylan
WHERE: The Red Bird Arena, Normal, Illinois
Tickets available through Pollstar.
Saturday, Feb. 20
Alpha Chi Sigma Swing Night
Place: 606 W. Ohio in Urbana
Time: 9:00 pm - 1:00 am
Cover: $2 (as usual, pop and water provided free)
Other stuff: Nice wood floors, no alcohol, no indoor smoking.

Swing Society Swing Night at the Regent (tentative)
Location: Regent Ballroom, Savoy
The Regent has suspended hardwood floors ("shock absorbers" so you can
dance all night!).
