A partial report on the USABDA Nationals.

I'd like to hear how others did. I had events to prepare for
every day, so though I saw many of the couples from C-U dance,
I don't really know how they all did.

Hilary and I are pleased with how we danced,

AND

we are happy with how we placed. Looks like we finally are
doing something that the judges thought was missing.

People kept complimenting us on how wonderful our TOP LINE looked!
Thank You Kathryn Schaffer!!!!

This was our last Adult B Pre-Champ. We have too many points now.
We can only dance Championship now in Adult B.

I did promise an explanation about Adult A Pre-Champ, so here is a brief
look at Friday Evening -- and the DanceSport Ironman....

Friday afternoon we did a preliminary round for Adult B championship. This
left 24 couples.

Friday evening, they started out with the preliminary round of Adult A
pre-championship (4 dances), then immediately did the quarter-final round
(24 people) of Adult B championship (5 dances), then immediately did the
quarter-final round (18 people) of Adult A pre-championship (4 dances).

13 dances in a row with NO Breaks. We were really tired in the quarter-final
of Adult A pre-championship, and I am sure that is why we did not make the
semi-final (lots of couples in the semi that we beat in other rounds). Then
the MC said -- "oh, we are 30 minutes ahead of schedule, we'll take some time
out for general dancing". The 4 couples that were entered in both Adult A
pre-championship and Adult B championship were not particularly pleased at
this point....

We danced one more round later in the evening, Adult B Championship semi-final
(12 couples - 5 dances). We almost had enough time to recover. Don't think we
would have made the final even if we had been rested.

Just in case you are wondering what the categories mean:

There are lots of age categories. (you had to see how good the kids were in
age categories for pre-teens, early-teens, and mid-teens.) The two we
entered:

Adult A --- an age category meaning one partner is 19 or older.
This is the most competitive category.

Adult B --- an age category meaning both partners are 35 or older.

There are lots of skill categories too. The two we entered:

Championship -- a skill category meaning the highest skill level

Prechampionship -- a skill category for people that are not quite
good enough for championship.
