For those of you looking for something to do this weekend, let me
suggest this:
It's the Chicago Summer Dance in Grant Park (Washington & Michigan) this
Saturday at 7:30 pm. The Ellington Dynasty will be playing, which I
believe is led by the son of Duke Ellington himself. I know nothing
about this band beyond this, but I hear there should be some really hot
swing going on. I'll be there as well as some other UIUC Swingers. As
one would expect, it's all ages and no cover.
On a sadder note, Jackie Brucker, a good friend of mine and stalwart
swinger, will be leaving us this weekend for grad school in Wisconsin.
If you'd like to say farewell, or simply join us for some salsa and
swing, drop on by my place at 408 W Illinois, Urbana. 9:30 or so is
when the music starts.
