Picked up a flier about the "Chi-Town Boogie" and thought I'd share it w
you-all...

Sounds like a fun way to spend 4th of July weekend (if you're not going to
the DI picnic).

On July 3-5, the new riverfront location for Chi-Town Boogie is the
Merchandise Mart Complex in the "lively River North area, in the middle of
the way coolest restaurants and hippest clubs in the city." Sponsored by
South Side Jitterbug Club.

$45 for a 3-day pass. Includes LOTS of dancing on a huge dance floor,
dance demos, fireworks on July 3rd and 4th, Taste of Chicago, and even
free eats.

favorite tune/artist , along w. a check made payable to Chi-Town Boogie,

4th of July weekend has also traditionally been a time for country-western
competitions/workshops/dances in the Chicago area and in Dayton, Ohio (the
Firecracker Festival). Several of the club "old-timers" used to go to
these. If you're interested, ask around to see if they have fliers on
these events. Good places to pick up some new west coast swing moves, if
you have a partner to practice them with so you don't forget 'em!
