I'm sorry for the form letter format for this, but I'd like you all to
know what's going on, and i tend to forget what I've told to whom.

so . . . .

I'm _not_ going to be getting my master's this August, as one of the
components necessary for assembling the machine needs a 20 week lead
time. Instead I will be taking a leave of absence from my work here for
the fall, and coming back for a month or two in the spring, after all the
components have trickled in, to wrap up everything. This would mean I'd
actually get my degree next May.

In the interim, I would probably drive back home, hopefully stopping in
Toledo, and Ithaca NY to visit friends and relatives. After a brief time
at home, I would fly to Australia. This should allow me to stop in LA,
to see friends who live there, and possibly American Samoa, or Fiji, just
to sightsee for a little. I'd hostell around Australia for a week or
more, then join up with the Picton Castle, a 179 foot sailing vessel.

leaving Darwin in September, I would sail to Capetown, arriving in
January. We would stop in Bali, Phuket (Thailand), the Sechelles, and
Zanzibar en route. I'd hang around there for a little, then fly back
home, and go back to UIUC to finish up.

I don't yet have solid dates on a lot of this, but the general outline is
firming up pretty quickly.

Take care,

Sincerely,

Matthew
