Well, folks, it looks like it has finally happened.
NBC has agreed to television a special ballroom competition tailored for it by
IMG superagent Mark McCormak working in concert with the International
Dancesport Federation. Read the following press release, which was just
issued:
World Invitational Latin American Championship to be held in Boston on June
4th will be taped by NBC and be aired at the end of June.
Couples have been invited from: Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark,
England, German, Italy, Japan, Rusian, Slovenia, So Africa and the USA.
These couples are National Champions and most of them are at the top of the
World Rankings List. They will be competing for a total of $36,000 prize money
with a first place prize of $10,000.
There will be a panel of international adjudicators from around the world.
The program will include two Professional Demonstrations, a College Team
Match with a valuable prize for the winning team.
