A friend/partner goes every year. It's a little expensive (ferry to the
island, expensive hotels, etc) but she loves it.
By the way, you don't have to go to CA to Swing. There are numerous big
swing events all across the US, all year round. They feature workshops,
competitions, great music and tons of social dancing into the wee hours of
the morning. Expect lots of music for swing, a bunch for Hustle, and the
occasional Cha, Salsa and NC2-step.
Locally, the next big national-level convention is the Chicago Swing
Classic in May. There are web pages that list all these Swing events...
you'll find them in the Swing section of Henry's Hotlist. There's a link
to the hotlist near the bottom of the DI web page.
