Hello all... (SOC)

Last night I gather was the last dance of our colleague and friend
Derek and once again, he did a nice job of organizing the social
dance and putting together the music. I can't say anything new here
that has not been said before, so allow me to join the chorus in
saying, "Good job Derek, we *will* miss you when you are gone".....

That said, I noticed last night that several beginner level dancers
had their interest piqued by the 2-step. Atleast three people asked
me to teach them the basics to it and they actually got on the floor
and did a couple of dances to them.

I recall that the 2-step was sacrificed for the "popular" salsa to
which I noticed few people dancing actually - strange...!!!

I am not calling for a vast reconsideration, lest you be led to think
so. I just wish to suggest that perhaps the beginners be reminded
in the classes coming up that at the end of the beginner lessons,
the DI does intend to hold quickies on WCS and possibly the 2-step
(don't know what the schedule of classes is, so pardon my venture
into unknown territory), both of which seemed to captivate their
attention as none other...

I enjoyed dancing with the beginners and possibly collected my "few
chits", as humorously described on r.a.d recently, doing so...

I do recommend this group to the beginners and all dancers, if you
have the time and are so inclined to sift through the good articles.
They discus things such as leading, following, how to ask and how
to decline and other such dance related topics, with the usual dose
of bickering and finger pointing as any other group consisting of
a few immature adults....

And no relevance to the last sentence above :-), but our own Mark
and Henry, and occasionaly Amy in an evil mood :-), post to this
group on their views. Take a look sometime, rec.arts.dance.

Ciao now and have a fabulous week.
Sriram.
