Yankees go for the record: Largest Macarena line dance ever

WHAT: The New York Yankees baseball team, led by their world
famous grounds crew, will try to break the national record
for the largest "Macarena" line dance. The previous record
was set in late June, when over 30,000 people joined in the
dance at The Kingdome during a Seattle Mariners game. The
New York Yankees will be playing the Seattle Mariners the
evening of the planned event. The event is being co
sponsored by radio station WPLJ and The Wiz.

The "Macarena" is the no. 1 song on Billboard Magazine's Top
100 Singles Chart for the second week in a row. From RCA
Records' album "Macarena Club Cutz," it has exploded into a
10 step line dance craze.

Video footage of the Yankees dancing the "Macarena" is
available.

At the game the fans in the stands will rise and be
instructed on how to dance the "Macarena."

WHEN: Friday evening, Aug. 16, at the bottom of the 5th
inning.

WHERE: Yankee Stadium

WHO: The New York Yankee fans, led by the talented grounds
crew and various players, will attempt to break the record
set last June at the Seattle Kingdome. The "Macarena" has
exploded onto the scene in time to make this a summer full
of people "dancing in the streets." The Los Del Rio song
(Bayside Boys remix) is the only English language version
of "Macarena" and is available on RCA Records, "Macarena
Club Cutz," a 12 cut compilation of hot club tracks.
