Hello all, it seems that every time I pick up a newspaper, there's
another opportunity to get out and enjoy the summer!

1) There are live country and western music dances held on alternate
Fridays, under the stars at Walnut Point State Park, near Oakland.
There is an optional dinner buffet from 5 to 7 (under 5 bucks).
Dances on June 21, July 5 and 19, Aug 2 and 16 and Sept 13 and 27.
Walnut Point is about 40 miles southeast of C-U, a few miles south of US 36.

2) Summer Swing, A Krannert Center Block Party, Saturday June 15
Free Admission: A full day of music, fun and food will be held on
Krannert Cernter's outdoor ampitheatre and terraces beginning at noon.
Many great jazz/ swing bands will be playing: Pocket Big Band, Kevin
Hart Latin Jazz, New Orleans Jazz Machine, Squeeztones, The Lazy Boys,
and My Brother's Keeper (bands change on the hour).

3) Double J Boot Scooters, a Country and Western club located at 119 E.
Washington in Monticello (762-5217). Regular DJ. Open Fridays and
Saturdays. Live band, Modern Cowboys, on July 26. three levels of CW
classes on Sundays and Tuesdays.

4) Lots of music in the park opprtunities offered by the Park District.
Pick up an Urbana Summer Leisure Guide for details. This months' Octopus
also has a wonderful summary inset of all activities... or, watch for
updates on key events from the DI Social Chair!

There are also lots of great non-dance opportunites offered by the park
district, including an eveining strawberry social, outings with the
urbana astronomical society, art and movies in the parks (kids movies
like Toy Story of Babe, classics like the maltese Falcon and Signin' in
the Rain). It's not illegal to get a group of DI friends together and
not-dance!

* One other non-dance related event, check out the Brew & View sometime
this month during their Sci-Fi Film Fest. See the Octopus for an
overview of all the great creature features!

Have fun! See you dancing (or otherwise)
