Date: Mon Jan 17 2005 - 20:51:37 CST
This Wed Jan 19, from 8:30 - 10 PM, we are offering an introductory tango
workshop at the Phillips Recreation Center (505 W Stoughton, Urbana). The cost is
$7.
The workshop will cover the basic rhytmic structure of tango, partner
connection, and basic navigational skills for dancing at milongas (tango social
dances).
This workshop requires neither prior dance experience nor a partner. However,
experienced dancers will learn the material quickly.
We will also follow up with tango courses starting next week, which we will
announce separately.
For those with prior 'Argentine' tango experience, we teach the rhythmic
close embrace 'milonguero style' of tango that is danced in the social clubs of
Buenos Aires and fast becomg the most popular style of tango danced in many US
tango communities. If you have not danced this style of tango, this workshop
can be a gateway to participation in our intermediate level courses.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
