We had a great turnout last night for the first in our series of summer
intermediate/advanced level tango lessons at the Phillips Recreation Center.
The next lesson will be this coming Monday June 7 from 8:30-10 PM. The topic
will be "The Vai-ven as the Foundation for Milonga Musicality". We will
explore variations of the the 2-count vai-ven ("come & go" step) in milonga and how
to restructure it in various ways and use these variations as the foundation
for improvisation in milonga, with the specific goal of connecting with the
rhythmic structure of milonga. (It's a lot less complicated than it sounds.)
Don't forget our milonga this Saturday June 5th at the Phillips Center. There
is a lesson by guest instructor Tono Gallesion from Buenos Aires at 8 PM
(note later start time) on "Milonguero Style Tango". We are really fortunate to
have a veteran of Buenos Aires milongas to instruct us in the authentic style of
tango danced at the milongas in Buenos Aires. The cost of the lesson is $20
and includes admission to the milonga.
In case you can't make it to the pre-milonga lesson, the milonga itself is
from 9:30 PM to 1 AM and costs $5.
We'll see you Saturday and Monday.
