Greetings tango fanatics,
The city of Bloomington will be celebrating its sesquicentennial on July
1st and 2nd (Saturday and Sunday) and will feature a tango show along with
other entertainment and activities. (See the web site at
http://www.wjbc.com/sesqui.htm for information about the overall event.)
The tango show will be on Sunday July 2nd at 4:00 p.m. and will feature
music by the great Guerilla Parlour Ensemble and dancing by a few famous
central Illinois tango couples - some of whom you might even
recognize. You can even be a part of the show when we call for audience
members to stand and dance a tango at the conclusion of the stage production.
The tango show will be on an outdoor stage in Withers Park (the old
courthouse square downtown) located at the corner of Washington and East
streets. Here are directions:
From C-U take 74 toward Bloomington.
Take the Bloomington exit to 51 North.
Stay on 51 North into downtown Bloomington and watch for Washington St. The
park square will be on your right as soon as you reach Washington. (51
North is East Street at that point.)
If it rains in Bloomington, the show will be cancelled. Hope to see you there!
