Dear Tango Dancers,
I would like to invite you to Argentine Tango workshops with Maria Castello
and Jacques Saint-Cyr on June 10-12. Please pass this information on to any
person or list that you think would be interested.
Attached is the schedule and registration form.
Please take note of the discounted tuition fees for multiple workshops.
In addition to the workshops at White Street, Maria and Jacques will give
an intro class for novices at Phillips Recreation Center on Saturday June
10 at 7pm, prior to the dance party. Cost will be $8 including the dance
from 8-12. If you're just going to the dance it's $3.00 as usual. Please
spread the word about this intro class for people who have never tried
Argentine Tango before.
Also, you can welcome Maria and Jacques on Friday, June 9th at Pages for
All Ages bookstore, 7-9pm. The Guerrilla Parlour Ensemble will be playing
in the bookstore cafe, and Maria and Jacques will join us there. We are
hoping that Jacques will sit in with the band on flute. Besides being a
great dancer is also an excellent tango musician.

Body mechanics and qualities of movement that are the basis of Tango
Argentino. Developing your own body awareness. Understanding the different
elements that characterize the men's and women's roles in Tango.
* Tango I: 2:30-4:30 pm $20
Variations on the basic step, ochos, change of direction, change of weight.
Discount: Enroll in both Saturday workshops for $25.

* Tango II: 1-3 pm $20
Turns to left and right, ways of exiting turns, linking with other elements
(sandwich, sacada, boleo, sweep).

How to adapt figures to different music styles and possibilities of space.
Approaching the same figures with two different styles of dancing.
Discount: Enroll in both Sunday workshops for $25.

Private Lessons

A limited number of private lessons and semi-private lessons (one to four
students per lesson) are available with either Jacques or Maria. Cost is
$45/hour ($40 for students). To schedule privates, call or email Joe

About Maria & Jacques
:::::::::::::::::::
Maria Castello graduated from the National School of Dance and the School
of Medicine in Buenos Aires Argentina. She is a Laban/Bartenieff Movement
Analyst. Parallel to her career in ballet and contemporary dance she
performed with the Argentina Folk Ballet in Argentina, Brazil and the
United States from 1980 to 1988.
Jacques Saint-Cyr has an M.A. in Flute performance from University of
Montreal. Winner of the New Brunswick Music Festival, Jacques Saint-Cyr has
performed extensively in his home province as well as in Quebec, France and
the United States.
Jacques and Maria studied tango with Pepito Avellaneda and Suzuki de Souza,
and currently study under the direction of Mingo Pugliese and Rodolfo
Dinzel. Jacques and Maria have collaborated since 1994 in contemporary
dance and in tango performances. Jacques is part of the Argentine Tango
teachers collective at La Tangueria in Montreal. Maria has been the School
Director of The School of Rockford Dance Company since 1996.
