I wrote some modules for visualizing global datasets with IRIS Explorer in David Yuen's group at the University of Minnestota Supercomputing Institute back in 1992.

Evil Country Fair Apartments was my home. I liked it at first, the apartments are OK, but...
  • You can't do laundry after 10pm, even though the washers are far from any bedrooms. They started this policy because the washers in our building were in such poor repair that they shook the floor joists.

  • The wall air conditioners are VERY loud and don't cool the bedrooms. I complained about this but they said it was normal. I tolerated this because I tended to be gone during the days and I got a nice breeze when I opened my window, but...

  • You can't make noise when your windows are open. I have had complaints about my stereo at midnight and my (then) girlfriend's dog on a Saturday afternoon. I find the barking complaint to be particularly unreasonable.

  • I moved out yet after 3 years. I had heard complaints from others regarding cleaning charges, but was only charged for carpet cleaning. I strongly recommend home ownership to avoid these issues.

Gateway 2000 caused one of my friends considerable grief. I am the proud owner of a dead Gateway laptop.
