PDCS-98 CALL FOR PAPERS 11th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing Systems September 2-4, 1998 Days Inn Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, Illinois USA SCOPE The 11th International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing Systems (PDCS-98)pursues the aim of becoming a major forum for scientists, engineers and practitioners throughout the world to present their latest research results, ideas, development and applications in all areas of parallel and distributed computing. The program committee is soliciting papers describing original work in, but not limited to, the following areas: 1. Concurrency and Parallelism -Distributed Memory Multiprocessors -Parallel and distributed algorithms -Software Development Environments and Tools -Languages, Compilers and Operating Systems -Resource allocation and management -Load sharing and balancing -Real Time Distributed Systems -Mapping and scheduling -I/O in parallel processing -Distributed Concurrency Control -Reliability and fault-tolerance 2. Architecture and Networks -Super computing -Parallel Architectures -VLSI Implementations -Communication Protocols -Reliability and Fault Tolerance -Performance Evaluation -Multithreaded Architecture -Security issues -Massive Parallel Systems -SIMD/MIMD processors -Interconnections networks -Memory systems and management -Network routing and communication algorithms 3. Software and Data Engineering -Federated databases and multidatabases -Multimedia information systems -Data Management on the Internet -Query Processing and Optimization -Object-Oriented Databases and Applications -Advanced Transaction Models -Data Storage and Indexing -Interoperability Issues and Information modeling -Industrial Challenges with Legacy Information Systems -Interoperable Heterogeneous Information Systems -Advanced Applications of Database Systems -Mobile Computing with Existing Information Systems -Interoperability in Workflow Management Systems -Parallel and Distributed Databases -Data Mining and Warehousing -Real-Time Databases SUBMISSION OF PAPERS Papers reporting original and unpublished research results and experiences are solicited. Papers will be selected based on their originality, significance, correctness, relevance and clarity of presentation. Five copies of the manuscript should be submitted to one of the program chairs prior to April 3, 1998. A manuscript should not exceed 18 pages including tables and figures in fonts not smaller than 11 pt or 4000 words. The title page must include the title, author name(s), affiliation, postal address, phone, fax and e-mail address. Proposals for special sessions and panels should also be mailed to one of the program co-chairs. To help us assign reviewers to papers, use the topics in the list above as a guide in your key-word section. Prof. Omran Bukhres Prof. Alok N.
