CALL FOR PAPERS CALL FOR PAPERS CALL FOR PAPERS --------------- --------------- --------------- Workshop on Advances in Parallel and Distributed Systems (APADS) Held in Conjunction with the IEEE Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems October 20-23, 1998 West Lafayette, Indiana, USA The 1-day workshop will focus on parallel and distributed computing and systems viewed from the three perspectives of software systems, architecture and networking, and algorithms and applications. APADS will bring together leading researchers and developers in these areas and will strive toward setting future research directions. The meeting will emphasize both design and analysis of parallel and distributed systems and their scientific, engineering, and commercial applications. We invite contributions in all areas of parallel and distributed systems, including especially: - Parallel/Distributed Algorithms - Software Tools and Environments for Parallel Systems - Heterogeneous Computing - Network-based Computing - Embedded Systems - Networks and Interconnection Networks - Global Communication and Internetworking - Memory Systems and Management - I/O in Parallel Systems - Standards for Portability and Interoperability - Experimental Evaluation of Existing Systems and Prototypes - Parallel/Distributed applications - Data Mining - Digital Libraries - Mobile Computing - Reliability and Fault-tolerance - Multimedia and Video Conferencing The program committee solicits abstracts of up to 5 pages for presentations on the above and related topics. Full versions of accepted papers will appear in the workshop proceedings. The program committee also solicits panel proposals detailing topics of discussion and 3-6 suggested panel members. Eight paper copies of the abstract are due by April 25, 1998 to the program chair: Professor Susanne E. Hambrusch Department of Computer Sciences Purdue University W. Lafayette, IN 47907-1398 seh@cs.purdue.edu Alternatively, for electronic submission, email a postscript file (plain ASCII, no encoding or compression) to the program chair no later than April 25. Other electronic formats and faxed submissions will NOT be accepted. Acceptance notifications by June 5, 1998.
