Extracting velocities from veldcd file

Dear NAMD users,

I am simulating a DNA protein system with application of electric field. I
have saved veldcd file containing the velocities. Now I want to extract the
velocity of the centre of mass of protein as a function of time. How do I
do this?

I would highly appreciate any help!
