Thanks a lot Prof. FIorin for your valuable input, especially regarding the
"wallconstant" section, I would look into the "expandBoundaries" command
and apologize for not checking the metadynamics section clearly.

What about selection of backbone only for "gyration" colvar or will
inclusion of all atoms (except H) give a better variation?
