some cluster questions

  Hi,
   We are about to buy something like 20 dual Athlons for
runing NAMD. We are now deciding exactly which hardware to
buy, and we have a few questions:

  1. Using 1000 Mbps is critical? For a cluster of that
size 100 Mbps conections are too slow?

  2. We are uncertain about buing 1 switch of 24 ports or
3 switches of 8 ports (cheaper), both with the same
velocity, does any one knows if the second option makes the
cluster slower? Any tip about that?
